I thought I'd try to see if the web would work for my Sister's Palm Treo 650 and no luck.
Technology is probably too old for this eh?

Anyone using a Palm device on the SO unlimited browsing plan?
I'm just wondering if I just download another browser that this will eventually work?

I have a Palm Treo 650 working on SO (I love it for the full QWERTY kybd when I'm texting) but I haven't had time to try the ULB. I'm hoping I get a chance over the holidays. I'll post how it goes when I do try.

Anyone definitely getting data/browsing on a 3G connection?

I have seen some posts of people getting data/browsing at 3G speeds on the SO service, if anyone has it can you share how you get it. Is it special settings?

I don't think it works in the GTA. Rather I think it's some special locations just get lucky and it works, but for most people your SOL.

Has anyone got web browising to work on a HTC/G1/G2 phone running Android?

I would love to get your insights on the settings to use.

BTW, I have already tried:

Apn: goam.com
Username: wapuser1
Password: wap
Proxy IP: 10.128.1.69 (As mentioned above)
Port: 80

Am I missing something? Apn type maybe?

Ftahir, what settings are you using, and are you in either the GTA or another major City?

Wow! I got it working on on my Treo 650. I wonder if it matters that my Treo is an old Rogers Treo (unlocked) though.

Anyways, here's what I did to get it working -

Under Prefs, I went to Network, created a new profile, used the settings from this thread

Username: wapuser1
Password: wap
Apn: goam.com

Then I went to Blazer (the web browser for my Treo) and under OptionsPreferencesAdvancedSet Proxy, I used the settings from this thread

Proxy IP: 10.128.1.69
Port: 80

Tested, working. Sweet!

Great info on this site. Can some one tell me why I keep getting the error messege: Could not activate cellular network: PDP authentication failure

This is on a iphone 3G. The edge network shows on the phone and I made the profile exactly like the instruction on http://www.binarysearchtree.co.....kout.shtml

any help with this would be great thank you.

I also have a 3G iPhone and have tried setting it up as seen in http://www.binarysearchtree.co.....kout.shtml, but I've had no luck.

Any iPhone 3G users have it working? I'm going to cancel then if no one has found a solution since it's a waste of $7/$10.

Please reply!

Do any of the apps from the Android Market work with unlimited browsing, (so is it worth rooting a Mytouch phone for this?

I have an HTC Mytouch (called Magic in Canada). It is an Android phone.

I've used the settings listed above, and I see either an E or G at the top of the screen, so I presume it's connecting to the Speakout network, but no web page will load, it just shows the circle going round and round and never connecting.

Has anyone successfully used an Android phone with unlimited browsing? Which settings do I need to add?

Just FYI, in-case anyone was looking for a Blackberry to use, for a decent price.

http://www.shopxscargo.com/pro.....ccessories

Let me know if it works. I don't NEED it, but I wouldn really consider it if it works with speakout (which I believe it should).

I recently purchased an unlocked Blackberry Pearl 8110 (with gps) and have been a 2 year Speakout customer. I use to use one of their nokia flips until it died. I purchased the web browser plan and have been having more than $7 worth of fun trying to get different aspects to work (like data).

The browsing works just fine with the exceptions of ebay, facebook, gmail etc. Don't know if I'm going to keep it. I borrowed a friends rogers data plan sim card and d/l a bunch of apps but most require data so they don't work when I re-insert my SO sim.

Anyone here getting push email, google maps, etc. with a blackberry?

Would love to hear from you before I cancel my web plan. I emailed ztarmobile to ask if they might offer a pay as you go data plan in the future and received no response. I'm a little disappointed in my dealings via email with Rogers and Fido as neither want to sell me a data plan with pay as you go voice.

Cheers!

I have an older Blackberry 8700 that I bought from Factorydirect, and it works OK with the Internet service. I upgraded the OS to 4.5, and installed Opera Mini. Google maps works with Opera, don't have access to a push email account. Using Petro Canada service.

iPhone 3GS (locked to Rogers) + Push Notifications

I have an iPhone 3GS locked to Rogers and am successfully using the SO data plan. I have not been able to get push notifications to work though (either through the EDGE connection or WIFI). The phone is not jailbroken and not unlocked.

Has anyone got push notifications working on a non-jailbroken Rogers iPhone?

To those that have blackberry's working.

I have a 9700 that I'd like to move to here. Where did you put in all the settings? The only thing I have in my TCP/IP setting are:

APN:
Username
Password

Where are you putting in the ip address and such?

Hey Xciton,

If your bb's unlocked just insert a 7/11 sim card and call customer service to get unlimited browsing. I've played around with different TCP / APN settings that I've read about online but bottom line is its a browser not a data plan and all the tweaking isn't going to turn it into a data plan.

Hope someone can prove that statement incorrect.

Cheers!

The TCP/IP services that work for the browser appear in the Service Book area of Advanced Settings on my Blackberry. Messing around with the APN settings appears to do nothing whatsoever.

The Service Book was empty when I first got the device, and turning on the data service did not work at all, and there was no browser icon on the device. I downloaded version 4.5 of the OS and upgraded it with the SIM in and the device on, and it came up working, with 5 service book entries and a working browser. I added Opera Mini 5.2 beta, and it works. Tried the Bolt browser, and it cannot find the Internet, and tried an IMAP mail client that also cannot find the Internet.

I figured out how to put in the first three settings:
Apn: goam.com
Username: wapuser1
Password: wap

Now my browser works well and so does my wifi, but my instant messaging isn't working. Blackberry Curve.

Can't figure out how to change these next two settings:
Proxy IP: 10.128.1.69
Port: 80

How do i change them and will this fix my messanger?

Thanks
