How well will this work on a non-speakout phone? I have taken my sim out and put it in an iphone and I am wondering if it will work.

OK I just phoned and activated it on my iPhone 3gs, will give it a try and report back on how it works.
Said wait 15 minutes and reboot phone, also you can call any time to cancel. Lady seemed a bit
unsure of answers to my questions, but we will see. I will watch the balance and see what happens.

Hi Glen,

I've followed your steps for my iphone 3G (not 2G or 3Gs) and it doesn't work for me. I still get the E (Edge) symbol and internet does not work. Any more suggestions?

Hello,

Does anyone else have trouble accessing gmail via safari? I am using an iPhone 2G and after logging in via m.google.com, it just loops after I enter my email details in the gmail login page.

Thanks in advance.

did you try login using wifi first? just let browser save the password.

Hey, thanks for the tip. It worked great after logging in using wifi first.

Further in the thread, someone suggested changing your gmail account to use activesync in order for the Mail app to work and it does. So I'll go through the Mail app from now.

EDIT: just noticed that they were talking about WM but I can confirm that it will work for the Mail app on the iPhone.

Has anyone got msn working with any of the mobile apps out there through this service? I think I pretty much tried all of them and nothing would connect.

Thanks for the info, I got email working through activesync. Basically I select configure server in activesync and add m.google.com as the server.

Great info on this site. Can some one tell me why I keep getting the error messege: Could not activate cellular network: PDP authentication failure

This is on a iphone 3G. The edge network shows on the phone and I made the profile exactly like the instruction on http://www.binarysearchtree.co.....kout.shtml

any help with this would be great thank you.

Try reinstalling Ultrasn0w if you are using it.

I was able to successful get this working on my AT&T 2G iPhone, as well as my Nokia E71. Though the iPhone browsing is slow, most applications work. I just curious in terms of Mail app on the iPhone as well as the Symbian mail app; I think it was mentioned earlier but did anyone have overall success getting the mail on the iPhone or the Symbian mail to work, it really sucks having to load up gmail of hotmail every time. If someone could post the exact steps that would be great. 😆

I thought I'd try to see if the web would work for my Sister's Palm Treo 650 and no luck.
Technology is probably too old for this eh?

Anyone using a Palm device on the SO unlimited browsing plan?
I'm just wondering if I just download another browser that this will eventually work?

Wish there was a list of devices that will work with this plan...

There is, just go to the Speakout site and browse "Phones", according to customer service these are the ones they say will work. 🙂 Anything else we can get working is a bonus and as you read through this thread you can see some folks have managed to get their phones working. I thought there were some reports of people getting their Palms to work, but perhaps I saw that on another site.

UPDATE: Still no luck. Has anyone got data to work on a unlocked 3G Fido iphone? And anyone have any tricks I can try. So far I have restored the phone and unlocked it again and made the Speakout profile and had Speakout reset my data package thinking a new hanshake from the server might do it but no luck.

Unlocked Fido iphone 3G with Speakout profile installed with the 3G turned off and the Edge icon is on. And error code: Could not activate cellular network: PDP authentication failure

Thanks a lot for your help so far.

Hello. Love the site - tons of great info. I have a quick question. I'm interested in buying an unlocked Smartphone - most likely something from HTC, like the G1 or G2 (Google Phones). The nice thing is I could theoretically (and hopefully practically) use the phones WiFi capabilities at home through the wireless router (as well as hotels, hotspots, etc). The nice thing is by plugging in a Pay as you go SIM card from 7-11, I'll only pay what I use - while still using GPS / WiFi capabilities on a sweet a$$ phone.

My question is this - regarding the $10 / Month Unlimited Browsing add-on, what would work on a phone like the Google Phone:

1. Would the GPS Navigation which accesses Google Maps for your maps work on this unlimited browsing plan ?

2. Would apps work on the Browsing Plan - like Skype or Nimbuzz ?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated !

from http://speakout7eleven.ca/pages/faq/

911 Emergency Services
No Airtime Charges Apply. However a Cost Recovery Fee of $.99 will be deducted from your account monthly.

I was suspecting that. But in the middle of the month?

Yes, in the middle of the month. It's on your month-anniversary date since you began service with them.

Your 911 fee and ULB fee can be anytime during the month, each on a separate day of the month.

You can call them up and ask for those days to confirm.

Mine just stopped working. Opera Mini reports "Content blocked by operator.". Has been working fine for a month.

ActiveSync & IE are also dead.

Anyone else?

UPDATE: It's working now. Outage? Testing? I guess we're all on borrowed time with ULB.

Hi,
Crazy question but has anyone successfully used tethering from the iphone? I been using the $7 unlimited WAP on a iphone 2G for over a month now and it has been working well.

But I recently able to hack the 2G to allow tethering. I was able to tether my iphone to my notebook via USB. The notebook was able to obain an IP in the range of 192.168.20.2 with a gateway fo 192.168.20.1.

I tried pinging the gateway but was not able to receive any response. Saying that, I was not to get on the internet from a browser hitting a mobile site.

I am not too sure if I have all the required configuration for a successful tether. WAP browsing on the iphone works flawlessly as indicated by binarytree.com posting.

On a side note, would MMS work over the WAP?

Thanks

Hi,
Basically I used the patch discussed in this thread, http://www.hackint0sh.org/f207/93057.htm.

However, I don't think the configuration is working to allow tethering, but all the features are there.

Good luck.

I got intermittent connection today. Anybody else experience the same? I'll probably cancel the ULB if it continues to be unreliable.

thanks for the link bro, i got my problem figured out. apparently you can't use a widget on your iphone regardless if its on the lock screen or springboard, it has the ability to stop edge for some reason.
