A few pages back, the forum moderator iandrumming gave this answer:

Once you enter the $100 airtime voucher code into your phone, the $25 bonus is automatically applied. So when you punch in the code, you will see that your account will be credited with $125. There is no way to separate the bonus $25 from the $100.

I just got the 1661.
-free phone
-$5 phone credit
-$25 promo credit
-Paid for $100
-Used $10 promo ref credit.

$140 worth of airtime and free phone whoop!

I understand the $25, $10 credit but not sure what the $5 credit is? Noticed on some phone descriptions (except the one I like) there is 20 minutes startup time (does that work out to be the $5). I'm patiently waiting for the store to receive the 2720.

Yes, exactly. 20 minutes @ $0.25 = $5.00.

Hi All, I live in Australia (Sydney), and will spend about 6 weeks in Vancouver from late January. This offer seems to suite my needs, is there anyway to buy from 7-11 store in Vancouver West End area, say using lay-by, no need to ship the phone here and then pick it up when I arrive around Jan 24. any tips appreciated.

I have been browsing the web and going to kiosks for the past few weeks trying to find a good combo that suits my need. I am a light user and I find how much the Canadian carriers charge for wireless services disgusting. I use the phone when I am out and about, but never long conversations. As long as I can call and text on the phone, its good enough for me. Having spent 2 years in Japan where cellphone services thrive, I could never settle for any of the plans I came across over here, even their pre-paid seemed too much of a hassle.

Then I came across Petro-Canada, and then this site. What a breath of fresh air! I paid $112 for the voucher after tax, now I have a nice little free phone with RADIO! (Vancouver radio kicks ass) and some 140bux worth of airtime to burn for the next year. This rocks. Thank you all. I am spreading the word now to my friends.

Canadians need to be liberated from wireless carrier monopoly.

Hello,

Just bought the $100 voucher, on the voucher it says "must be applied within 90 days of purchase"; if I apply the voucher around end of February (within 90 days), will I still receive the $25 bonus airtime? Or is that : in order to get the $25 bonus air time, the $100 voucher has to be applied by Dec 31, 2009?

Thanks.

Somebody asked that a couple of weeks ago and I believe the answer was that you have to apply the voucher now (before the 31st) to get that $25 bonus.

That is correct. You can apply the voucher within 90 days, but if you want the bonus it must be applied before tomorrow night. Also, the bonus airtime promotion will appear from time to time, it just won't be as permanent as before.
