Looks like alot of the stores don't have the 2760 available. Called quite a few stores.

I just phoned a petrocan near me and they gave me a price of $134 for the 2760 and $69.99 for the 1208. The web site still says $100 and $49 respectively for the phones. What gives?

I would print the relevant page(s) from the PCM website, and take it to the PC station and politely request that they honour those prices. If that fails, contact PCM's PR people from the website.

I have an easier solution.

Go to a different PetroCanada station.

There's tons around.

Or, you can ask the guy to swipe the UPC code for the phone through the checkout to make sure that the price is correct.

But, if that doesn't work you CAN print out the webpage and argue with the guy....if spend your time and energy arguing with some yahoo that in the end may or may not charge you the correct price.

Go to another store and let the phone collect dust in the store where the guy wants to overcharge.

YAMS,

The 1600 and the 1208 are basically the same phone. Get the one that you thinks looks better. Seriously, THAT should be the defining criteria. Well, that or if you can't find the 1600 anywhere.

And if you really can't decide, then get the 1208 since the battery life might be a little better.

Doing the "2x$50 instead of 1x$100" thing was tricky in the past (some stores would do it, others would not). But it doesn't make sense after the recent price increase UNLESS you use the phone for CONSIDERABLY less than 30 min PER MONTH. But even in that extreme case it will all even out over the long term.

In other words, don't worry about it. Just pick the phone that you like the looks of (1600 or 1208), bring your $100+sales tax to a 7-11, and you'll be happy.

Excellent idea! Only hitch is what if the higher prices come up, i.e. the web site is wrong? At that point it may be worth an indignant (but polite!) e-mail to PC HQ complaining about how much time you've wasted due to the errors on their web site. They may even agree to honour those prices just to keep you happy.

Two questions:

1. There are no 7-11 stores in Halifax. Can I port my existing Fido 902 area code no. to a 7-11 phone that I buy in Toronto?

2. I can use my old unlocked GSM phone right? (and sell the 1208)

Thanks!

You should be able to contact SpeakOut head office and have them change the number. You might want to make sure before you buy a phone by calling them directly at 1-800-255-0711.

If your GSM phone is unlocked, then you can use any SIM in it, including Speakout.

Don't forget that they only place to buy airtime is at a 7-11 store. And if there are no stores in Halifax where you are, you might be out of luck until you travel to where there is one.

How much does it costs you altogether alogwith the phone?

I got Nokia 5200 for paying extra 75. It looks good with a trband feature and a camera.
But they did not offered me any extra minutes.

The phone comes with $5 of airtime, and when you buy $100 of airtime, you get the $25 bonus because your airtime costs 20 cents per minute instead of 25 cents. So $130 credit showing on your phone is correct. Welcome to the incomprehensible world of SpeakOut math.

This morning I was lucky to get the last Nokia 5200 & 1208 at Vancouver (Knight & 33rd). There were at least 5 1600 left.
The 5200 & 1208 are both unlocked, work with my Rogers SIM card.

I got a 5200 today but I find out there is no 1GB microSD card inside. It got scammed. Please confirm it comes with one and from reviews it all says it does.

Does it mean only 5200 & 1208 unlocked? but not 2760 /1600?

Quite a bit bad day!! I went down Crowfoot 7-11 (in Calgary) our time 6:45am today. Plan buy promotion $100 airtime + phone 2760 + Calgary Transit pass. However, the one preform she's very "pro" & experienced cashier, doesn't know promotion or proceed at that moment. At lease 5 line up behind of me in rush for their cigs. At the end, she doesn't know print the receipt for me and at the end just punch in $220 in total selling "Misc". I have been told come back this afternoon pick up correct receipt. Let's see what I will get!!

I plan on going with this promotion. I have to port my # from rogers. However, my billing period with Rogers just started.

Can I buy the phone and SIM and wait for about 20 days before I activate? If I dont finish 100$ worth of calls, what happens to my remaining minutes? Is there a way to salvage them?

Thanks in advance

That's doable.

It's a similar situation like mine. The cust service has confirmed that I can wait to port my virgin mobile until there is no balance.

It's written on the $100-voucher "Subject to 7-Eleven SpeakOut Wireless Terms of Service. See terms at http://www.speakout7eleven.ca. Must be applied to your phone within 90 days of purchase."

Here is the cust serv number: 1-866-310-1023

First off, thanks Dano for replying.

Alrite. I just got back from picking up a 1208 phone. Just an FYI, Bloor/Spadina have no stock of these phones. Only 5200. I got the last one from College/Spadina. They have 5200 as well. Not sure if they stock up regularly tho.

So 100$ + tax + free phone = 113$. The guy said there was about 20 min pre-loaded. I am looking at my receipt and there are no bonus minutes to bring the total to 130$. DOes this happens only after you activate the phone? Also, do they give out the balance in minutes or dollars?

Thanks guys

Ok i just dialed *777, my phone is already activated with $5 and will expire on aug 2 2009. Did I activate it when i dialled *777 or did 7-11 activate it for me???

I will wait to activate my 100$ voucher towards the end of the month when i will port my existing # from Rogers.
