Which area code to use for Vancouver?

I plan to spend a few weeks in the vancouver area. This would include white rock, Vancouver, surrey. Also trips out to chiiliwack /abbottsford. I plan to buy a sim card from speakout. What area code do i request? As i understand it vancouver has 2 area codes. Is it long distance between these codes on Speakout?
Also to confirm. I think i can buy a card in a 7-11 store anywhere in canada and request a Vancouver area code for it. I don't have to buy the sim in Vancouver. thanks

my understanding is 778 would cover both vancouver(604) and victoria(250) as local number(both in and out) but 604 is vancouver only. So 778 is better if you don't want the 604 designation though not sure about chilliwack/abbottsford.
