Voicemail dialing with mobile

I just bought a speakout phone, put the SIM card in my old phone but can't figure out how to connect to the voicemail.
Holding the "1" key, as written in the manual, does not work (also does not if I use the phone I bought). Dialing my own number results in a "failed call".

I can access the mailbox by calling my mobile number using my landline, but how do I do it with my mobile?

Thank you all 🙂

You need to goto contacts then setup your of voicemail number. IF u wait long enough they do it for u.

i had a similar problem
I had to wait a few days for them to add my number to their system or something, i'm not too sure but after a day or two it should start working on it's own. Before it would just give me 3 beeps and then disconnect.

Problem is: what voicemail number do I enter, that's what I try to figure out...

If I am dialing my own number, call still gets rejected. If I am dialing the 7eleven voicemail number, then enter my phonenumber and press # I hav to enter my pwd, too. But I guess there is supposed to be a number to dial from the mobile where I just can listen to messages without entering any additonal info like pwd or phone number

Your SpeakOut cell number.

If I am dialing my own number, call still gets rejected.

Call customer service and ask them for help.

If I am dialing the 7eleven voicemail number, then enter my phonenumber and press # I hav to enter my pwd, too.

Yup. That's how it's supposed to work.

But I guess there is supposed to be a number to dial from the mobile where I just can listen to messages without entering any additonal info like pwd or phone

On some phones you can create a phonebook entry that has your phone number, #, your password and the key sequence that tells the VM system to play your new messages. Then you can just call that entry in your phonebook and wait to hear messages. Some phones also let you make that entry the one that's called when you press and hold '1'. I'd imagine the feature and how you program it is phone-dependent. See if it's described i your phone's manual or tell us what phone you're using. Maybe someone knows how to do it for that phone.

I have the SIM in a Motorola Razr V3i.
I bought the SIM with the Nokia 1600. In the manual it is said to press and hold the "1" key. I tried putting the SIM in the Nokia and this key, but it saiys "you have to set the voicemail number first" :-/

That's what I was hoping for, finding the number in the Nokia and adding it to my Motorola...

Does anyone know any voicemail numbers other than the 2 listed in FAQ item 15a? (Toronto & Vancouver)

I tried the thing with entering the 7-11 voicemail number, my number, a # and my password, but I end up in the first menu (where it says I should enter e phone number)

🙁

Try calling your full 10 digit number from your home phone. Wait for it to ring, then once it says you haven't set up your voicemail, press pound(#) on your phone. It should ask you for your password, then you gotta change your password and set up your voicemail.

My voicemail was doing the same thing (asking for the ten digit number and then saying that is not a valid mailbox). I called support, a tech person got back to me and said that the voice mail system has been down since Wednesday (At least in the 403 area code) and that they don't have an estimated fix time at the moment. She reset my voicemail options so that it should send me a text message once it is working again. Once I get the message I am supposed to turn my phone off and on again before it will work. This was at 9am and still no message so I assume it is still down.

I don't think I explained my problem right: I did set up the mailbox already from my landline.
What's not working is the "press and hold the 1 key on your mobile to dial voicemail".
The only way I can access my voicemail from my mobile is using the same number as I used from my landline, entering my mobile number and then hitting # and entering my password - but I figure from the mobile there should be a way directly to the mailbox without all that typing in.

Can you share the numbers to save the rest of us from more work? There's 2 in the FAQ - Toronto & Vancouver - any more?
I also can't get the "dial own number from cell" to work. It works fine from a landline - and that's a local call most of the time.
Has anyone checked that SpeakOut calls to the voicemail number are local?

I am in Vancouver, so the number on the page here worked for me.

But a few days ago, calling my own number from my cell started to work. I still have to enter my password though, but I guess that's normal (I came from Europe, and there you normally get forwared directly to your mailbox without pwd).

Anywho, passing my number AND the password does not work, so I guess it's typing all the time 🙂

But thanx for the help guys.

Actually I think that's a good feature. If you lose your phone, whoever finds it won't be able to access your VM.

FWIW I have a SIM password enabled too, with the same password as for VM. It means I have to enter that whenever I power-up the phone and check for VM but I don't consider that to be an onerous task.
