no subscribers from Ottawa who use voicemail eh?

i have already checked FAQ # 15. When I call my own phone number from my cell, I receive "busy". The other link that points to Rogers somewhere no longer works

thanks all

Did you call SpeakOut customer service to see if they can help?

Yes, I did. They said the phone # is 647-669-9989 which is in Toronto. Would I not incur long distance charges if I dial it from Ottawa?

My experience with SO voice mail is that the calls are charged as local, the Victoria BC VM number is a Vancouver number, and the Manitoba VM number is a Calgary number -- they work as local numbers from Victoria and Winnipeg based SO phones respectively for me. Nobody gave me that answer, I spent 50 cents and tested it.

The simplest way to find out is to try. Leave yourself a short voice mail from a different phone. Call *777 before and after you call the VM number. It will either cost you 25 or 45 cents a minute to pick up your message.

SO Customer Service gave you an answer. No one here can contradict their answer -- we are customers, they are the spokesperson for the company. If you are unsure of their answer, spend 25 (or 45) cents and check it out. That way you will have an accurate answer to your question. If it does cost 45 cents take that up with SO.

We are in Ottawa. (647) 278-9956 is the VM number programmed into one of our newer SpeakOut phones.

From a test call on the SpeakOut network, it only incurs local charges.

I've used (613) 421-6245 to access VM, which is a "regular" Rogers VM number. It doesn't usually provide prompts, or time & date info, and it doesn't provide access to account management services.
