Re-insert it, see what happens. Did you register your service yet?

You have to activate the phone first, by following the directions that came in the package. You bought a Nokia 1600 at a 7-Eleven store? I didn't think they were selling that phone anymore. It's an older phone.

You have to activate it by punching in the codes found in the package. That's if you bought the phone through a 7-Eleven store. You never said if you bought the phone and/or sim through a 7-Eleven store though.

Here's a copy and paste from the Speak Out site:

How do I activate my new SpeakOut Wireless Phone?

Simply follow the 4 Step instructions on your activation card, located inside your SpeakOut Wireless phone box. You'll also need your 7 digit activation code and 5 digit Store # that is printed on the blue "Welcome to SpeakOut Wireless" quick start guide.

If you bought the sim and phone through a private sale, and it says "SIM card registration failed", then chances are the sim has been deactivated by Speak Out. The only thing you could do is to call Speak Out customer service, and see what advice they give you. You might have to buy a new sim though.

There should have been a quick start guide that was in the box. There was one in mine when I bought my phone. If there wasn't any, your best bet would still be to call Speak Out customer service with your situation.

Either call SO CS or take the package back to the 7-11 where you bought it.

While people here can try to help you we're no substitute for either of the above.

The instructions will be on the activation card, as mentioned above. The first thing I would do though is to call SpeakOut CS.

i think cuz my phone is so old it doesn't come with an activation card, it says on the quick start guide "OFF-THE-SHELF ACTIVATION pre-loaded, powered up and ready to go" and this hole thing with this phone is pissing me off!!!

As suggested in four previous posts... call Customer Service @ 611 from your phone or look at their website for the toll-free number. It's a free call to them and they are very helpful.

So why do you have a cellphone? 😆

BTW calls to CS are free. Plus the CSRs may be better able to help you if you call from your SO phone because they can see it on the network and may be able to activate it for you, etc. while you're still on the call.

Exactly. We're trying to help you, but we are no substitute for SpeakOut customer service. We are just customers like yourself. They are the only ones who can really help with this, and finally get your phone activated. You can wait for their email from them, but they will probably tell you as well to call 🙂
