I just purchase a new speakout phone online.

I have my existing Virigin mobile phone (pay as you go), I decide to port my existing virigin phone number to my new speakout

Would some one kindly tell me any fee for this service?

Should I activate my new speakout phone and get the new telephone number first before call to Speakout specialist for the porting? (or I should not activate my new phone and directly call the speakout staff directly for porting?)

Thank you information, have a nice day.

Porting to Speakout is currently free. You should call a Speakout customer service rep. You will get a phone number from Speakout when you register, and you can then get the porting process started, usually the same time you register. The porting process can take as long as 3 days though.

I am in the process of doing the same thing. I still have questions which perhaps some one can help. I hope you don't mind that I steal your thread. I was thinking that this can get you started and my experience (good or bad) will benefit you.. Speakout customer service send me an emial which says I have to Activate the SIM card and get an account number. Then call them to start the porting process. They need the account number of my existing carrier, my existing phone number and ESN/IMEI of the existing phone. The question I have is about "Activate the SIM card and get an account number". But I don't have an account number after I activated my SIM. I only have a new phone number. Is that also my account number ?

OK. I just called to start the process. All they need is actually just my new Speakout phone number and the account number of my existing carrier (Bell mobility). They said this may take up to 3 business days and they will contact me when it is done. They also recommended me to activate my air time voucher just in case they want to contact me by phone. This is something that I prefer not to because if the porting failed, I will be stuck with the Airtime on a phone number which I do not like. But I did it because they recommend. I'll update you again with the story in 3 days.

Porting is likely not going to fail, unless you gave out the wrong information. There is legislation is place now to stop the porting shenanigans the incumbent telcos tried to pull to make porting as difficult and painful as possible.

It is fast. I just got text message saying that the porting is done.
Does anyone know if I have to call my previous provider (Bell) to cancell my account or it will be cancelled automatically due to the porting request

It is cancelled automatically. Once the number is ported, the old Bell account associated with that number is deactivated.
