I just active my SO and want to port my old Rogers number to SO. My plan with Rogers has expired, but Rogers needs 30 days notice to cancel the service.

I called SO and was told it will take only 2-3 days to port. I can go ahead to cancel my Rogers service now and can use their serive for another 3 weeks. One week before the number get deactived, call SO to port the number.

I called Rogers to cancel my service. Rogers said once I ask them to cancel the service, I am not able to port the number, although I still have 30 days to use the number. If SO request the porting, my Rogers account deactive right away but I still have to pay 30 days service.

I was confused. Can anybody tell me how it work. Should I follow Rogers or SO's ? Thanks

Just call SO, and tell them you want to port your Rogers number to them. Don't bother calling Rogers. You said your plan with Rogers has expired, so you wouldn't have to pay anything to them, since you are no longer under contract.
