Phone in Non-711 area?

I have not been able to find the answer to this specific question anywhere in the FAQ or posts.

I live in NB, where there are no 7-11 stores. I am currently with Rogers. If I got my friend in Ontario to buy me a phone at a 7-11 and mail it to me, could I activate it here?

I have seen people who transfered an existing 7-11 activation to a city without 7-11 stores, but never one about an initial activation.

Yes.

As always, though, double check by calling 1-866-310-1023.

The phone is already activated when you buy it. Anyway, this is exactly what I did: I bought the phone in Alberta while on vacation. I live in Quebec, so I called and got the number changed. There is usually a 10$ fee, but I politely explained my situation and they said they would do it for free (maybe since there are no 7-Eleven in Quebec).

I had to go through two different people and tell them that I understood that I would not be able to buy more minutes in Quebec. I told them I have family in Alberta and they would buy the minutes for me.

I can confirm the previous posts. I live in Northern Ontario. The phone was purchased on my behalf (by a very nice person - you know who you are!!) in BC and it came with a local number.

Upon delivery, I ported the telephone number from my old Virgin Mobile prepaid account to my new 7-11 phone. No problems and no charges!

I have been very happy with the results.
