Older SpeakOut kits expire?

Hi

I just bought an old 7-11 Speakout kit, which comes with the Nokia 3200.

The seller says it's new and has never been used. My question is since there's no activation required would the sim card found in the 3200 prepaid kit be expired? AFAIK the 3200 kit was introduced when Speakout first came out a couple years ago.

Does the activation of the sim take place when the first call is made?

Thanks

It's quite possible that it's expired. Every SIM is associated with a phone number so if a SIM is never used then its phone number remains "reserved." My understanding is that carriers reuse such idle phone numbers.

Have you tried to use the phone? If it doesn't work then I'd call SO CS and ask for their help. You might need a new SIM and phone number.

Unlike every other carrier, SO phones are "pre-activated." However, your first phone call is used to start the timer on airtime expiry. If the original owner made a call on that phone then it's likely that by now the SIM has expired. Again, ask SO CS.

BTW, if the phone is two years old, don't be surprised if the battery won't hold a full charge.

Thanks for the reply.

Im actually getting it shipped so i just wanted to get an answer before it gets shipped out so i can request the seller to test it or swap it with another sim.
