I just bought a 7-11 Wireless speak out, and reading the User Guide has confused me. Who is my Service Provider and why do I need one? I only want a pay as you go phone, purchased $100 airtime, tried to activate and it keeps telling me the "back end" is down or out of order, and the SIM card was rejected - what do I do next? Do I need a service provider? I could really use some in-depth discussion as I am totally blind here. Thanks Peter.

Your service provider is just another name for the carrier, which is SpeakOut. They provide the service. As far your sim card being rejected, something screwed up in the activation process. A quick call to SpeakOut customer service will help you get this corrected.
