Long distance

Hello,

I bought my phone (nokia 2610) in Oshawa on May 17. For $125, I got the phone and a $100 voucher. Sold the phone on E-bay and I'm using the SIM in an unlocked GSM. Good deal and the service works up north as well, where FIDO does not.

My question: I have made several long distance calls from within and outside the Oshawa area. To date I have not been charged any long distance....the calls drop the airtime by $0.20 per minute (vs. $0.30). Nor have I been charged the 911 fee. I'm just keep an eye on the balance after calls for now. Anyone else getting free long distance? Or do they maybe just charge once a month?

Examples of long distance:

Oshawa (905) to Toronto (416)
Peterborough (705) to Toronto and Oshawa
Toronto to Oshawa

If this lasts, what a sweet deal!!

Thanks!

It may just be their definition of your particular "local calling area", which doesn't always match the geographical land-line version. You should call and complain right away!

And my 911 fees didn't start coming off until the first day of the second month.
