Thanks to bylo's suggestion due to a spammer, this site now records the IP address of each post. This information will NEVER be publicly displayed or shared and will be used solely for the purpose of blocking repeat spammers. If you are a site moderator and witness any repeat spammers, please report them to me before you delete the post so that I can note their IP address.

Good! One problem you may encounter is that these spammers may use different IPs every time just as e-mail spammers use different e-mail addresses. I suppose one way to deal with that would be to block entire IP address ranges, and perhaps even entire countries, from being able to post here. After all, how many people located in, for example, China or Russia would have a legitimate reason for posting on a forum devoted to a Canadian MVNO?

MVNO: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MVNO

I'd like to avoid going the "block entire countries" route. We don't want to stop prospective Canadian visitors from getting the full story on the situation with Canadian cell phone plans! Plus, if someone really wants to spam you and they're doing it manually (there are certainly tricks we can use against spambots), they have all sorts of tools like anonymous proxies and virtual private networks to appear as though they're coming from many different places.

I have now hacked the code so that there is now a list of usernames and e-mail addresses that guest users cannot use. (There's only one item on each list right now...)

Nowadays, I'm mostly hacking in the sense that I've caught the flu bug, which consists of a lot of coughing...
