I was recently advised to read the FAQ yet again, so I dutifully did.
The following section:

6. Can I send text messages to a 7-Eleven Speak Out Wireless phone via the Internet or via e-mail, like on other providers?

There is no official 7-Eleven form, but you can search for and use third-party SMS websites at your own risk. Note that regular incoming text message costs will apply and there is always a danger of the recipient's number ending up on some sort of spam list.

And once again I was left completely puzzled!
I was always lead to believe that incoming text is FREE.
Please advise, because the above contradicts this.

That part hasn't been updated since SpeakOut started offering free incoming text messages. It should be changed soon.

Sorry about that and thanks for pointing it out. I've remove the phrase in question.
