Once unlocked, this phone should work just fine with Speakout. You need to either make or purchase a Speakout MicroSIM

It is not cheap to unlock iphones properly, because it involves Apple. Cost from $29 to $80

My Blackberry just died so now I have a brand spanking new iPhone 4S 64GB.
While watching on Kijiji I found out that iPhones can be unlocked. Telus is the least expensive at about $ 40.00. Rogers and Koodo are about $ 130.00 . Bell also but apparently some Bell iPhones can not be unlocked. This is in Toronto, don't know about anywhere else
.
I also found that iPhones are just referred to as 3G (old) 4 and 4S, the 4S having extra features and then the GB capacities of the phones. I.E 8GB, 16GB,32GB and 64GB. Then there is the new iPhone5.

The older 3G uses regular MINI sized SIM cards, the 4 series uses MICRO SIM cards and the 5G uses NANO sim cards. A cutting tool and 2 adapters can be bought for $ 10.00.

I have not seen anyone mention model numbers at anytime anywhere.

Not sure where you got those fees from, but this is what I have seen:

Rogers and Fido charge $50 - http://redboard.rogers.com/201.....th-rogers/

Telus $35 - http://mobility.telus.com/en/Q.....vice.shtml

Koodo $50 - http://help.koodomobile.com/pl.....-my-iphone

Bell and Virgin $75

This, of course, assumes you have an existing account the the provider for unlocking purposes.

I am talking about buying a LOCKED phone from someone and then getting it unlocked for your use.
You are talking about a different scenario.

you are lucky if your is locked to Koodo/Telus. Just go over to ebay(and some unlock site too) which would have your phone unlocked, just like what the carrier does.

Koodo/Telus happens to be the cheapest. I unlocked my for 60 bucks and it was once dropped to 35 or so but not sure the latest rate. Rogers is like 100+ and Bell I don't even know if there is 3rd party unlock
