Just FYI, you always had free text thru iMessage, but other users were only able to reach you with the apple Id. With short codes turned on, your phone number is also part of the party.

Keep in mind that iMessage does not work with UMB because it uses port 5223 which of course is blocked.

I'm having trouble activating iMessage and Facetime with my phone number. In the Facetime settings under the "You can be reached for video calls at:" section, it says "Verifying" followed by my old phone number, and below that is my current Apple ID email account. In Messages settings, the "Receive At" section just shows my Apple ID.

How do I get iMessage and Facetime to be tied to my current phone number?

Have you tried turning iMessage off and then on? Can't speak for FaceTime as I don't have it myself.

Yeah, but it keeps trying to activate by Apple ID. Doing a settings reset didn't help either.

Not sure if this is causing it, but my phone was originally from Hong Kong with a different number. I've updated my number in the Phone settings using the +1xxxxxxxxxx format. Still can't get it to activate.

Are shortcodes still working for everyone else?

I can't get my phone number to activate just my email. Tried turning it on then off a hundred times still nothing.
So know I am going to contact customer service everyday bugging them to allow short code. If everyone else does the same thing eventually they will cave.

I hope you fail. If they finally allow short code, it could mean $$$. The nice thing right now is, it is not supported so they do not charge.

And short code can eat the balance like there is no tomorrow if there is some rogue app installed.

they don't support that so you don't have to try it

I do have my iphone jailbroken. I did use the # you supplied for the plst file and it activated it but it is for my email only. Up to that point I couldn't even activate my email. Thank you for that very helpful. But I would prefer to have my speakout number activated as well. I don't know why it doesn't work for me? I even reset my iphone and tried your method again still the same thing no phone number.I also tried it on my wifes same thing for hers. I am at a loss, don't know what to do now.
I do have a question for you I see that 3g SIP icon in your message do you have a SIP that works with speakout?
