I have the old school Speakout flip phone/SIM. Not sure if I purchase the 3 in 1 SIM, would it work in an unlocked iPhone 5? Curious: co-worker selling iPhone 5. Thanks for info.

The iPhone 5 takes the nano sim, so the 3 in 1 sim from Speakout would work. But the iPhone must either be unlocked or a Rogers phone in order for it to work. (Unlocking an iPhone is quite pricey.)

You will want to transfer your account over to the new sim. So DO NOT try to activate it the way you do for a new account. Phone customer service and there are instructions on how to proceed. If I recall correctly, you follow the voice prompts. No need to speak to a rep.

Thank you, very helpful info for the phone and the SIM. I did forget to mention it is unlocked so it sounds like I may be lucky.

Very good advice 46jimbo,

I recently transferred my account to a new sim. The whole process was seamless. I am now using a Samsung Galaxy S6 with a nano sim.

Just transferred to a new sim and did wind up with customer service taking the info. Fairly pleasant though and it got done.

Actually that was then this is now. By Canadian law,a cell phone provider must give you the information to unlock a phone.

Additionally ALL cell phones must be sold UNLOCKED now.

See CRTC ruling: https://www.canada.ca/en/radio-television-telecommunications/news/2017/06/crtc_puts_an_endtolockedcellphonesandunlockingfees.html
