1600/2610 - Features - Yes or No?

I am going to buy one of these: 1600 or 2610 in the next few days.

I don't care about camera, mp3 player, videos.

But I might be interested in
a, Speaker phone
b, Alarm (bed alarm and also Reminder of
events)
c, Duration of calls (so I know when to stop)

Anyone who has used THESE phones....please let me know if the above features exist in them or not.

And finally, I read in this forum that 2610 has web feature while 1600 does not. How significant is that? I mean........can you use the web feature just like your computer to access ANYTHING online? And what about the cost................obviously it can't be just 20 cents per minute. UMM??

Thanks>

I only have the 1600 and it fulfills your a, b and c feature list. It does not have a web browser but Internet access is not available on SO wirelss any ways. Other than that, the 1600 is actually quite a very decent, useable little phone.

Way to go Tiger..........really appreciate your answer. Thanks.

I read someone's post saying 1600 did NOT have "call duration" indicator. And nowhere did I see anything talking about speaker phone or alarm.

Very glad 1600 has all this. I was leaning towards this anyways since its cheaper (I can always go for another better phone, not 7-11 if I need to later on).

Now, just wondering what the WEB FEATURE in 2610 is all about?

thanks...later~

It allows you to browse internet sites via the phone. However, this is not available thru Speakout wireless service. Rogers has this service as far as I know, and if the 2610 is not locked to 7-11, you can use it with Rogers SIM.

You can check Nokia sites for more info about the phones.

Doesn't even WORK with speakout!??

haha....then its final, i am going for 1600.

Thank you slomo.

Don't wanna open another thread for a simple YES/NO question:

In the future, if I want to discontinue SPEAKOUT service (maybe switch to another prepaid or even go for a postpaid one), all I need to do is STOP buying the SO calling cards; isn't that it? And ofcourse, I can try and sell the phone+sim. No contracts, no worries. No?

Insert any other GSM network's SIM, e.g. Fido, TMobile, AT&T, except for Rogers, and see if you can connect to it. You don't need to make any calls.

Yes. Let the air time ran out or expired without adding more and it will be gone.

To answer MDMM's questions

To install new ringtones/games/whatever do a search on Ebay for a cable to connect the 2610 to your computer and for a disk containing games/ringtones/whatever software is necessary.

For your name as well as your number to appear on call display, call SpeakOut customer service and see what they can do.

Also, if you are calling a friend's cellphone that already has your name and number in their addressbook, then your name should automatically appear on their screen when you call them.
