I don't see on PC site of any 911 fee per month compared to the .99c of the SO.

Go to FAQs section and see #4 of "Rates". It says, "Currently, a monthly service charge of $0.99 is required across Canada for 911 services and will be deducted automatically from your account balance."

Yes, I found it.
Wonder why do they have to charge a .99c 911, since almost all other pre-paids don't require you to.
I guess you can't have all in 1 place 🙂

You are wrong. As far as I know all the other prepaid cell phone account of any company do charge you 911 fee every month. Any one telephone number has to pay one 911 fee every month no matter your phone is landline or internet phone or cell phone.

I believe President's Choice Mobility does not charge a 911 fee. Everyone else does.

Some of the other carriers may not charge for 911 but instead charge other ridiculous fees (to make up for it). Also compared to their per-minute rates and their short expiring time, SO makes up for the 99c by a long shot.

What happens if I let my air time run out. Let's say $5 lasts for 5 months and left with 5cents? Will I be charged 911?

AFAIK you're only charged the 911 fee in those months that you use the phone. But since I've never gone a whole billing month without using my phone I can't confirm that.

Also, if you don't use the phone for several months, 120 days IIRC, they may deactivate your account. Then you have another 45 days to reactivate it (for a fee.) I'm going by memory because the SO brochure is no longer on the 7-11 website.

If you want an authoritative answer you will have to call SO CS.

From my experience you're still charged if you don't use it. I haven't touched the phone after the first month and just checked again.

kcy is right. They charge you the 911 fee no matter you use your phone or not. In the case if your account has only 5 cents then they will charge you as soon as you refill your account the next time. You know it if you read their find print in their agreement.
