I see Petro Canada has updated their site today. They are now selling the Nokia 1208 for $49. Also they are offering up to 100 minutes if you buy the 2630 or 2760 model. Not sure what up to means.

I personally have been waiting for the SO deal which didn't materialize so I think I will be going to PC, $49 seems like a pretty good deal for your basic phone (and sim).

The reason they say "up to 100 minutes" is because they give you a $20 airtime credit (which is 100 minutes of airtime), but if you don't use it, the monthly 911 fee is taken out and your account balance goes down and therefore you have less minutes available.

Nice explanation! Same applies to the current SO offer, which there was some confusion about. (People wondering why it was "up to" 50 extra free minutes with $50 airtime purchase). Thanks for clarifying!

Also because long distance rates are higher. So you will get fewer minutes for the same amount of money.

Also because long distance rates are higher.

If you check Petro Canada website you will find that long distance rate is 10 cents / min plus the standard 20 cents / minute of time. This is identical to 7-11.
