I'm heading over to Parksville, BC for a few days. My number has a 778 Vancovuer area code. WIll I be paying LD charges on voice and UMB usage?

Parksville has a 205 and 778 area code. Vancouver has 604 and 778.

I thought 778 covers the whole BC as it was initially for mobile ?

I know it covers both victoria and GVR which one of the advantage of taking a 778 number over say 604 as it is local calls for both victoria and GVR. Not sure about Parkville but very likely the same situation.

oh and data is canada wide, i used it in toronto before.

So this is the reply I got from custoemr service....

Hello,

SpeakOut Wireless offers the largest local calling area. With a number with area code 778, you can call area codes 604, 226 and 778 numbers from anywhere in Canada without incurring any long distance charges.

SO has a weird long distance policy. If you are 'home' and call a long distance number, there are long distance charges.

If you live in BC and fly to ontario, and call an ontario number while you are in ontario, there are long distance charges, but if you call BC, no long distance charges.

I'm not sure how it works if you are in ontario and someone calls you. Are there 'roaming' charges?

ALL incoming calls are considered local calls, regardless of where you are in Canada.
