I think $0.99 cents is too much for 911 per month. I checked my Telus bill and the only charge $0.13 cents per month. Why the big difference.

How much does Telus charge you for "System Access Fee"?

How much does SpeakOut charge you for that?

In any case, Telus levies all sorts of charges, e.g. your monthly plan (for postpaid), SAF, etc. that ensures a steady revenue stream from each customer whether or not they use their phone.

SpeakOut gets only the 99¢ a month. That's not a lot for maintaining your account and phone number, providing free access to account balance, etc. I don't begrudge them that. (Now if they jacked that up into SAF territory, I'd be hopping mad.)
