Just got back from a trip to the western side of the island last week - when I landed in Deer Lake I was UNPLEASANTLY surprised to discover that I had zero signal. Nothing there, or in Corner Brook, or during my drive up to St. Anthony and back. The coverage map that SpeakOut has on their website indicates the only coverage the have in NL is in the St. John's area. Rogers has basically no presence outside St. John's - all the stores in Corner Brook carried Bell, PC, Virgin, or Telus and of the people I spoke to - none used Rogers. Fortunately the friend that was with me has Bell Mobility - her phone worked pretty much everywhere.

I agree with Bridonca. When I was in St.John's, coverage was ok, but anything outside the city is nonexistent. Bell coverage on the east coast generally blows away Rogers coverage. President's Choice uses the Bell/Aliant network, and a good amount of The Rock is covered.

Speakout will work in St. Johns and parts of the Avalon Peninsula. I certainly would not call that coverage of Newfoundland though. http://www.rogers.com/web/cont.....ss_network

If you are in Halifax, You should instead go to the Atlantic Superstore and pick up a President's Choice SIM card for $10, which comes with $10 of credit. President's Choice uses the Bell network. Rogers coverage is horrid in Atlantic Canada.
