I am on the 365 days pre-paid. I just topped up my account before I got the notification about the need to switch to Lucky Mobile. When I activate my Lucky Mobile SIM, they ask me to select a plan. There is no more equivalent pre-paid as far as I can see. In the FQA, unless I read it wrong, it said that my account balance cannot be moved to Lucky Mobile. Am I missing something ? What can I do with the money that I just topped up?

Your balance will not be transferred. It's not fair and SpeakOut has handled this very badly

Will I be able to transfer my account balance from my SpeakOUT Wireless account to Lucky Mobile?
No. When you move your number to any new wireless provider, including Lucky Mobile, your existing account balance does not transfer. This is standard across all carriers, as you are starting a brand-new service with a different provider, even though you’re keeping your current phone number.

We understand this may be disappointing for some customers. That’s why we’ve worked with Lucky Mobile to make this transition as smooth and valuable as possible. You’ll receive a free SIM card, access to affordable monthly plans starting at $19, and bonus data when you sign up with Auto Top-Up — all on Bell’s reliable 4G LTE coast-to-coast network.

Kiss it goodbye.

You don't need to switch to Lucky if you have a 4G compatible phone.

Thanks for all the responses. After conducting some Google searches, I found that my phone is compatible, but the SIM card is not. I need to buy a new SIM. The Speakout customer help line is dead. It hung up, saying that the call volume is too high.

You cannot buy a new SIM because Speakout is currently not selling SIM cards on their website. You might be able to find some old stock at 7-11 stores if you're lucky (pun intended), although I would probably wait and see what Speakout will do with their network provider situation.

Have you read the 36-page long (and counting) Redflagdeals post?

Basically, Speakout and their CSRs say things without offering actual proof. They claim 4G/VoLTE will work if you stick around, though they haven't actually revealed what network they may (or may not) have a new deal with (if any), and seemingly nobody has been able to actually connect to 4G/VoLTE.

They say they "partnered" with Lucky, but that just means a free SIM, no other perks. (Maybe Lucky is just paying SO a dollar or two for each "referral"?)

First it's everybody has to port out, then it's 3G-only customers. Nobody really seems to know for sure what's going on, so some are porting out now to be safe (after 18 years, I went with Freedom), some are waiting it out hoping for a magical network switch at the last second. Your guess is as good as anyone's.
