I guess the definition of "Western Canada" is subject to interpretation.
The 604 number is good for BC which is Area Codes 250, 504, and 778.
If you have a SO phone from the Prairie Provinces which are also Western Canada, you have to call a Calgary number.

If your SO number is in area codes 204, 306, 587, 780, or 403, the number you have to call is 1 403 978 9990 to pick up your voice mail. The same rules apply -- it is not long distance from any of those area codes from the SO phone itself.

Hi everyone,

I have been having issues with my voicemail for a few years now. Basically, it works fine to check my voicemail from any other phone, but whenever I try listening to a message from my mobile, it dials, then hangs up. I just recently bought the Nokia 5130 and switched my old sim card into it hoping it would fix the problem, but sadly, it has not. I tried calling customer service a few months ago and the person didn't really have a solution.

Any ideas to this dilemma?

Correct. Any time you use your phone, you are using up airtime, whether to set-up or access voicemail, or to send or receive a call.

Well, not any time. There are some free calls, like *777, *888 and 611. I think that's where the confusion comes in, since some services like Customer Care are free, whereas voicemail is not.

I called them for assistance (I can't recall what the issue was because it was quite a while ago) but I recall most of the problems were due to my error. They were excellent both with the help and not hesitating to issue a credit. I was able to successfully set up all my voicemail options from a landline after their instructions.

No it was not the 911 fee, I've only had my phone for 4 days, and they deduct that one month after that date etc. It is definitely from the voicemail, and I got these instructions from the booklet that came with my phone. They should have mentioned that it will use my airtime money, it's not really fair. You think giving them a quick call will resolve anything?

Hey guys, so I was trying to activate my voicemail today. Unfortunately I ran into a lot of trouble. I tried it with my current phone, and holding 1 wouldn't even work, would just lead to the call instantly being ended. So I take out my 1661 and try it out. It works! I am doing the automated servicing, and it keeps taking me in random circles, and I can't get out of a certain part of the process. (Basically I wanted the automated message instead of my voice, it first gave me the option, so I chose automated, then it kept insisting I record a message). I tried for some time and couldn't get it to work so I hung up. I decided to check my balance just incase the call charged me...and it dropped by a 1.25, I never knew I was getting charged! Although that's not a lot of money, I find it very irritating that I couldn't get my vmail setup, I was charged on top of that, and I don't want to risk trying again. That's my rant, what should I do?
