i used this service to unlock my fido phone, and it was great! best $5 ever spent....

i was worried about the motives of the free unlock posters when they said, and if you get a hard lock, then you will have to bring your phone in to us.....

Yes, you can lock up your phone tight if you try to enter too many incorrect codes. Also, some newer phones are not unlockable by just entering a code.

There's a long discussion on RFDs about this, and they're saying the free ones don't work. Don't you get a hard lock if you try too many times?

If your phone is unlockable by codes, most are free, and found by googling them. I wouldn't pay anyone for a code.
