The unlocked phone you mentioned will work with SpeakOut. It is a quad-band, which uses the 850/1900mHz North American bands. If a quad-band phone phone is unlocked, it will work with any GSM provider.

As far as SIM cards go, if you want to use the SpeakOut service, you must use a SpeakOut SIM card. Even though SpeakOut uses the Rogers network, they have their own SIM cards (for account management, network ID, etc)

Hello!

First of all, I am absolutely thrilled having found this service today. $25 with a 365 day expiry is EXACTLY what I have always hoped for!

I am planning on purchasing a Unlocked cell phone from Newegg at some point. I am considering the Samsung Stratus C3050 [Compatible with Rogers, and has GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz]. I can link it, but I am unsure if that's allowed.

Of the unlocked phones, if they say they're compatible with Rogers networks, does that inherently mean that the phone is compatible with the 7-Eleven service?

I have also read I need a SIM card--can I purchase a $25 Rogers SIM card and successfully connect to the 7-Eleven Speak Out Network with their pre-paid credit?

(Much of this was mentioned elsewhere, I just want to make sure it applies to me).

Are there any pitfalls I may experience that someone could warn me about?

Thanks!
