Note that it's the phone that's locked (if it's locked) and not the SIM.

The SIM establishes your home carrier (e.g. SpeakOut) and your phone number. You can use it with any unlocked GSM phone that's designed for use in North America.

To use that Nokia 1208 in the US, all you would need to do is buy and swap in a US based sim card, which would have it's own airtime and it's own US number. To use the phone in Canada again, all you would have to do is swap back to the original sim card.
