Doesn't work. Rogers is only offering their WAP proxy (goam.com). The data proxy (internet.com) doesn't seem to be active, which means that apps like Opera Mini are not running for anyone on this service (although Opera Mobile runs on Windows Mobile phones).

I understand they're trying to prevent people from using smartphones. However, a basic WAP browser was state of the art 10 years ago. It's not worth $120/year in 2009, especially when SpeakOut handsets are being shipped with better browsers built in.

South of the border, AT&T's prepaid GoPhone plan charges $19.99 for 300 MB of data service. You simply top up when it's gone. Meanwhile, in Canada we sit here banging rocks together trying to make fire. Ugh!

From what I gather, you have to configure Opera to go through roger's proxy. So it will work, just not directly. I suspect Rogers is putting the screws on ZTar on what to allow or not.

The Nokia 5130 is SpeakOut's most capable phone, thanks to its solid audio, high rez screen and the brilliant built-in Opera Mini browser.

I was quite excited about pairing it with SpeakOut's new unlimited browsing service, but decided to confirm that Opera Mini was supported. Their response was disappointing, to say the least: "No only our WAP browser is supported. The introductory offer is $7.00 per month thru the end of January 2010 and then goes to $10.00 per month."

Am I the only one who finds this unacceptable? Customers have already paid for an excellent browser in the Nokia 5130, yet SpeakOut doesn't allow us to use it.
