You are right of course. I won't answer from now on but I may miss the odd call. There are 'out of area' calls etc. That were important but perhaps that was the home phone not the cell.

Thanks for the software suggestion but I'm too cheap and just have an unlocked T-Mobile Nokia Nuron 5230.

If you have Android, look into getting "Mr Number", it's free last I checked and works for blocking Texts, blocked/private phone numbers and texts or calls from just about anyone you want blocked. I has the option to not even alert you or save the call log / text message when the above mentioned events occur as well.

It won't get expensive if you don't answer the phone. I never answer a call if it's from someone I don't know. Caller ID is free.

It could be apps that you download or apps that your friend has downloaded that has uploaded your contact list to the interwebs.

Definitely do not download apps, and if you must, make sure that it's from a reputable company.

If your phone allows, assign repeated annoying calls a spot in your contact list and give them the quietest ringtone.

Don't know how to do that with texts though.

I think I got the same text msg a few weeks ago. What kind of phone are you using? If it's Android, is it possible one of your apps you recently installed pwned you/your phone/your number out? If you want to check what kind of "extra" stuff comes with the various apps, consider installing AirPush Detector or Addons Detectors. You'll be very very surprised.

Good luck

Always amazes me that you can't do this. I have a relative who is being stalked by an ex by text. Cops told her to go to her cell provider. Bhell tells her nothing can be done except get a new phone number, which they also told her would require a new contract, etc. etc. etc. In this day and age this should be easily do-able, it probably isn't because telco's make money from it.

As far as I know, it's still not possible. The only way would be to call SpeakOut themselves to see if anything can be done. If not, all you can do is just delete them as they come in. At least incoming texts are free.
