If you have a Rogers sim card in your phone, then you are using Rogers. If you have a SO sim card in your phone, you are using SO. If you have a Petro Canada Mobility sim card in your phone, then you are using Petro Canada Mobility. If you want to use SO, you must have a SO sim card in your phone.

c & p from the 2nd post:

But if you are using a Rogers phone, with a Rogers sim inside, then you are using Rogers itself (your Rogers account, airtime etc).

They are different companies.

So, the answer would be no.

Hi iamdrumming,

I understand SO does not have a gsm network and operates on rogers network. In fact from what I'm reading it's operated by Ztar Mobile which also runs Petro Canada Mobile.
I just wanted to know if I could use my rogers sim card and my rogers phone with 7-11 speakout.
Thanks again for your input 🙂

Hello,

Please read the 2nd post in this thread. That will answer your question. SO is a MVNO. It does not have it's own network, it uses the Rogers network.

Thank you so much for the quick answer. I didn't think about using the search function since usually you have to register to use it. I didn't register but I did disable addblock plus on your website and I did click the google adds 😉
You are doing a great job here, thank you!
And I will register. 🙂

Oh, just to make 100% sure, a rogers SIM card will NOT work on SO network, correct? Because I thought I read another post that said it did.

Your identity on any GSM network is tied to the sim card, not a phone itself, so if you wanted to use SO, then you would need a SO sim card. Naturally, if you want to stay with Rogers, you would keep using your Rogers sim card.

You would have to get a SO sim card, either by buying a SO package (phone and sim card) from a 7-Eleven store, or you can see if there are some available on this site. People sell them here in the Phone Exchange forum from time to time.

Also, there is some good reading and info on the home page of this site, as well as the official SO site. Using the search button is helpful as well.

So I take it is possible to use my rogers SIM card with SO but how do I activate it and how do I get a phone number?

Thanks again in advance!
