Hi. I finally solved my problem (after much toing and froing with Shaw, then Rogers and finally SpeakOut technical help). I turns out that the problem lay in the part of the simcard memory known as "Own Number". I have an unlocked quad phone (Samsung SGH L700) and it allows you to put up to 4 numbers in this section, which I did at some misguided moment. I didn't even realise that the numbers were there when the simcard was in the Nokia, because you have to scroll down to see them. And the Nokia has no facility for accessing these numbers. Once the other numbers were deleted (after putting the simcard back into the Samsung), the problem went away. Apparently SpeakOut only supports a single number in this section, and it can only be the number of the cell phone. cheers paulst

As Bylo suggested, I would say that the problem is definitely with your landline, and not with Speak Out, since the Speak Out phone can make and receive calls. I would contact the company who provides your landline service.

Good suggestion, but that feature has been turned off. I am completely stumped. I will phone the SO technicians on Monday (apparently they take the weekend off 🙂 I will post the solution once I figure it out!

Do you have a feature on your landline that sends all unknown callerIDs to voicemail? If so, could it be that your landline isn't programmed to recognize your cell number?

Hi, I have a really vexing problem that the SO help service couldn't solve last night. I have a Nokia 1661 phone and whenever I phone my home landline, I am immediately redirected to the voice mail system! All other numbers I have tried seem to work fine (that is, they are completed normally). We checked the basic settings on the Nokia (call forwarding is not set and the correct number is embedded for voice mail) and I tried moving the SIM card to a different GSM phone (with the same result). I also checked my landline: call forwarding is disabled there.

Anyone heard of this problem before? I did a search of this site and couldn't find anything that seemed to be similar. Any help would be appreciated.
