I have been with Rogers pay-as-you-go for a while and it requires your name/address in the registration.

It's a privacy thing as well. Of the prepaid carriers I've been with, I've never had to give them my name/address.

It was also funny that you could just register for the voice mail. No code no nothing. If I knew a phone number that didn't initialized their voice mail I could basically "steal it" by putting my own password

I just got a phone last week. It was surprise that the customer service didn't ask for anything about the name and address. I would say the activation is simple, but I am just wondering why the registration doesn't care the name and address. The name and address information is helpful in some emergency scenarios, like you just dialed 911 without speaking, so the 911 dispatcher can still track you. I heard some real stories like this and it saved people's life.

Does anyone know the particaular reason why speakout phone doesn't care your name and address? Is the reason just for being simple?
