The chart is a bit out of date.

My experience in BC where there are 3 area codes — 604 for Vancouver, 250 for the rest of BC, and 778 as an overlay for the whole province,is that 778 area code numbers treat all 3 as local while 250 and 604 are exclusive unto themselves.

I have set up several SpeakOut phones for friends. Those who got local 250 Victoria numbers can call 250 and 778 as local but not 604. Those who got local Victoria numbers with 778 area codes can call any of 778, 250, and 604 as local. I have no experience with 604 numbers, but it is safe to assume they get 604 and 778 as local, but not 250.

what is considered long distance?
In alberta, there are 3 area codes. 780 is for edmonton, 403 is for Calgary, and 587 is an extra code for the entire province.

So if we have a speakout number that is 587, does that mean all 780, 403, and 587 are local?

If we get a 403 number, does that mean 403 and 587 (including 587 in edmonton) is local? How about 780 numbers....are those considered local too?

If 780 is not considered local, does that mean that having a 587 number is preferential because it give a bigger local zone than a 403 number?
