FYI

i was charged 50 cents because the reciever cell phone did not pick up my message (for some reason...network problem??....whatever). So when the message returned to me, I was charged 25 cents again (so, total = 50 cents).

The whole thing happened again, when I send another message to the SAME cell number.

Hey buddy.........I sent another message to the same number (with a couple of special characters.......maybe they really aren't special....it was "coma", "enter for next line" etc)

Anyways..this time, it cost me only 25 cents as adverstised. So at times....there maybe glitches !!? Anyways, I feel better than before..hehe.

Btw, the website message thingy.......nice idea. Thanks man.

But it says "Note that regular incoming text message costs will apply, and you might be charged the international rate, depending on where the site sends the messages from."

What does the above mean?

If I send message from the web to a cell phone in India, whom does the "regular incoming text cost" apply to? Me or the person in India?
Also "might be charged international rate"........will I get charged international rate for sending message throught the web.
If so, won't it be sensible to just drop the idea and use the cell phone instead (which surely won't cost more than 50 cents...and normally just 25 cents).

???

It won't double the number of characters - the person that received my SMS still received only 1 SMS. It's probably something to do with the system.

Assuming you're at home, just use the website that's provided in the FAQ. Seems to work without a hitch.

Hey Guyz....

Thanks very much.

That is a silly rule...especially when ythey advertise over 400 characters.

I didn't get one thing.

If I use 100 characters and then I use a few special symbols like "the one you said (i don't know how to type that on the keyboard)", *,&,$ etc........still it would only add up to a total of about 110 characters.
So, I still don't get why you say it will cost 50 cents.

(obviously, just for using a special character, the number of characters won't double; would it? Like 100 becomes 200, because of using a special symbol)

p.s. I know I haven't used the character you said. But I might have used a * or a $, i think.

Max size allowed is 350 characters (was it 450?).....it says right there on the screen.

I didn't send a picture either.

Anyone has any ideas?

Well......if no ideas...........i guess I will just send another one soon and see what happens.

The phone says 460 characters (for the Nokia 1600) on the top right hand corner. However, the max for is actually 140 or 160 characters.
You can see here: http://www.rogers.com/web/cont.....t/send_sms

Also, if you use special characters like °, it costs DOUBLE. Even if you typed 100 characters and used °, it'll cost you $0.50. I learned it the hard way by sending SMS to Europe...

I don't know the size of the text message sent but do know that most providers have a limit as to the size of a text message, and if you exceed it you are charged for 2, or perhaps even 3 text messages if the message is long enough.
For most people this is not an issue as their text messages are short and even if they send an occasional long text message they are sent seamlessly.
If you sent a picture this would also be more expensive.
