Once you port the number, the old sim card is deactivated and useless, and any money that was on that account is gone for good.

Ever since the unlimited data lockdown on Feb. 1st, I have been craving a "real" data plan, but I have $85 left on my Speakout phone. At $10/month for unlimited browsing, it will take about 7 months to drain at the rate I talk and text. I would like to sell my SIM card but port my number to a Rogers SIM card.

Here's what I might try:
1. Purchase a Rogers SIM card ($9.99) and a $20 voucher to get started.
2. Call Rogers to activate my SIM and port my Speakout number to Rogers.
3. Call Speakout to change my Speakout phone number ($10).
4. Sell my Speakout SIM card with remaining balance on this forum. The new owner can then port their number to this card for free (?)

Does anyone think this will work?
