Thanks for the info. I guess I'll have to muster up some patience. I hope that by the time my balance is depleted, Speakout offers a real data plan similar to Rogers.

Exactly as espresso said. Once you port the number, the old sim card is deactivated and useless, and any money that was on that account is gone for good.

Here's what I might try:
1. Purchase a Rogers SIM card ($9.99) and a $20 voucher to get started.
2. Call Rogers to activate my SIM and port my Speakout number to Rogers.

After this step, your Speakout SIM will cease to work and your account (your phone number that you just ported out) will be closed.

There's no simple way to get your Speakout money and port out. Sorry.

I would like to switch to Rogers Pay As You Go for their 100 MB data plan. Ever since the unlimited data lockdown on Feb. 1st, I have been craving a "real" data plan, but I have $85 left on my Speakout phone. At $10/month for unlimited browsing, it will take about 7 months to drain at the rate I talk and text. I would like to sell my SIM card but port my number to a Rogers SIM card.

Here's what I might try:
1. Purchase a Rogers SIM card ($9.99) and a $20 voucher to get started.
2. Call Rogers to activate my SIM and port my Speakout number to Rogers.
3. Call Speakout to change my Speakout phone number ($10).
4. Sell my Speakout SIM card with remaining balance on this forum. The new owner can then port their number to this card for free (?)

Does anyone think this will work?
