Not too familiar with the 5200 but if you can install programs on it, in particular, Joikuspot (not free), your phone can become a wifi hotspot.

If you're asking if your phone can be tethered to your laptop and used as a wireless modem, you probably would need the data cable or bluetooth on your laptop to connect to the phone and use PC Suite software from Nokia to establish a connection.

OK. I'm up and running UL Browsing on the N 5200 (teensie screen tho' ), I can get gmail and hotmail on the phone.
I downloaded N PC Suite and can access the phone for messages through the phone's mailbox system on the laptop. This is through a USB cable.
But I guess that I thought the internet screen on the laptop would match what was on the phone screen ?
I'll look into Joikuspot.
Well, if the screen is this small for internet at least I'll be sending shorter messages.
Bridonca warned me that Sympatico and POP3 wouldn't be compatible w/ the Rogers feed and I guess thats what my laptop browser is set for.

Can I use a Nokia 5200 to do the " phone as a Wifi router and use my laptop " .Both are Bluetooth capable. I just want to get access to my " Sympatico " mail account while at the cottage.
The 5200 Manual says that it can receive e-mails if the service provider gives you an account.

Call speak out and ask them to activate the data plan. They will caution you that the 1661 is incompatible, but just say you have another phone.

I assume you are talking about the Nokia e63, if so excellent phone choice. You can make the phone into a wifi router, which allows you to use a laptop to browse instead of a phone.
