That's true. I also get calls from Nebraska, as well as Michigan, Ohio, and various other states. With the Do Not Call list now in Canada, some unscrupulous telemarketers have a work-around, they outsource their calls to the USA.

As Peter said, if you haven't had your number for years (and ported it into Speak Out), chances are you number is a "recycled" number, and on various telemarketer's call lists.

SO numbers are not necessarily new, so your number could be circulating on call lists. Sadly, your only options are to get your number directly taken off the list somehow; change your SO number (although your new number might be worse); or just ignore calls from that number.

I've received a call from the above number twice now. This all happened recently (within the last month or so) after I contacted the US SpeakOut (some 1800 number) because I was having difficulty contacting the Canada branch. Do you think SO, probably the US counterpart, is selling our numbers to these a-holes?

very few people, mostly friends, have my SO number, so I'm not sure who else would be selling my number to some telemarketing britches.

Have you experienced this?

Mister
