No, Speakout and Petro Canada use the whole Rogers/FIDO network, even the 3G part if the phone supports it. FIDO towers are not that plentiful here in Nova Scotia, but I still get coverage where Rogers is. There is probably a preferred list of networks that Speakout and Petro Canada are assigned, but ultimately, they have access to what Rogers has available, and what the phones are capable of.

I find the coverage is worse than with Bell (had them for 10 years ) and have no experience with Rogers. SO works great in Wasaga Beach, most of C'wood and Parry Sound. I had trouble in Huntsville. Zero reception in Sudbury and it almost made me switch away from SO. Going to stick with it though. Top of the line E71 phone... I think SO runs on an inferior network to Rogers Prepaid, just a hunch.

Regardless, I think when you venture up to these rural communities, its to be expected that you are going to lose service now and then. I really don't think any coverage map is going to be accurate enough to show exactly where you will or won't get service. I think its pretty much understood that its going to be hit and miss.

I was travelling between Barrie and Goderich a few weeks ago and had trouble getting a signal in places. 3G would show in the top left corner of the phone, but could not call out or used data. On the Coverage map on the Speakout711 website it shows full coverage right through there. Can't remember if my Telus phone worked better there or not.

I was at grandview in the summer and found that I couldn't get a signal in various places on the property, but was a ble to find a signal pretty easily in the main buildings and down near the lake. Was kind of hit and miss. When I was in Fenlon Falls I was hard pressed to get a signal as well, although Rogers coverage map did show a dead spot right where I was staying.

I was at Huntsville (Deerhurst resort) and Blue Mountains in the past 2 weekends, and I received no signals at both locations. But according to the FAQ, 7-11 should have the same coverage as rogers customer, and the map clearly shows both areas are covered:

Just wondering if anyone else has similar experience.
