Voice mail is free. But if you call with your Speakout phone, you get charged airtime. Use a land line or equivalent to access your voice mail. Call your Speakout phone number, press # when you hear the computer voice, and enter your PIN.

Well it was test calls from home phone to cell phone though I did make a few test calls on the cell.

Does voicemail cost monthly and is it on by default? I haven't actually connected to it so I'm not sure since I can't tell what is being deducted.

No, the money can be deducted as soon as you press send. Test calls can and will be deducted like any other call.

Is there a way to check usage online? Like how many minutes I've been using and when.

Also are incoming text messages free?

For some reason I'm slowly losing money every day and I don't even use the minutes that much. I'm definitely losing more money than I should be for airtime… on the other hand I get text messages quite frequently (incoming) from Google Verification. Is that costing me money?
