I have found plenty of dead spots just in my travels around Ontario. Even if the Rogers site says there is coverage in any given place, it might be different when you are actually there.

What do you have for a phone? Nokia phones tend to be really good when it comes to grabbing a signal.

In any case, anything wireless will never be as good as the plain old telephone service. But some networks are better than others depending on the location. Bell/Telus seem to have a more superior network in most of Canada, though Rogers tends to have better coverage in Upper Canada. Where are you located?

that sounds more like a rogers coverage issue than speakout. I very much doubt SO would be a second class citizen as far as connection is concerned.

are people you mentioned on rogers or with other carriers ? If they are with rogers but have no problem at the same location where you have problem, it becomes a real issue.

EDIT:
why I use two carrier in my family(bell + so/rogers) to maximize the coverage.

when i call from my land line it rings but after approx 8 rings it jumps to a fast busy signal. However, when I checked this morning all is back to normal, so they must have been experiencing some technical issues last night. Just as an aside, I am not sure I am satisfied with the service that Speak Out provides - on a number of occasions I've experienced a "no network connection" available in my local area. Not a great thing if needed in an emergency! So reliability is a problem with this type of service. Since I am very new at owning a cell phone, I was not expecting to not be able to access or call locally. My entire family have cell phones but are on a contract basis and do not seem to experience these problems.
