Can I refill my airtime on the expiry date of my existing airtime?

OfflineI have asked the customer service if I can refill my airtime on the expiry date of my existing airtime and they said that I should refill my airtime at least one day before the expiry date of my existing airtime. Otherwise, I will lose all of my existing airtime. If I follow what they said, my airtime's expiry date will always be advancing one day every year.
Would any one please tell me if I can refill my airtime on the expiry date of my existing airtime without losing my existing airtime? Please share your experience on this issue. Thank you for reading.
