True, just like the official site says, you can not pick and choose a number. That goes with all carriers as well.

Sadly, it makes sense. Speakout has limited control over the numbers, Rogers pulls the strings. So Speakout can only mete out what is in Rogers remainder bin. If lucky, you get a nice number and area code, it looks like you lost.

I think the best way to fix this problem is to pay less than $10 for a FIDO SIM, get the number you want, and then port that number over to Speakout. That is what I did to get a easy to remember Speakout Halifax number.

Here comes the answer, No.

The customer service said that they just don't guarantee if the no. is taken or not.

I asked if I wanna change my no. from 604 to 647, they said they could do that without charges.

"Then how could you guarantee that 647 no. is not taken? —-We could only guarantee that because you are moving"

That's is all I got. So, maybe I am stupid, I still not understand how it works.

Or, they just don't allow area code changing for the same geographical area.

You should be able to for free, since you are getting a number in a different area code, even if it is the same geographical area. The $10 charge applies if you want a new number within the same area code. As Bridonca said, your best bet would be to call SpeakOut customer service.

That is a good question. When I bought my SIM from a seller from out west, I had no difficulty getting a Speakout Customer service representative to to change it to a Halifax 902 number. I have no idea if you can do that in the same province without a charge though. Talk to a CSR and let us know!
