yes, those are the short code that is blocked and i believe that is how they determine what can go through. if it is from a real number(including say google voice), it can. otherwise like some 3rd party SMS api sent one, blocked.

Thanks chimpanzee. Maybe these are similar to premium messages, but perhaps there is some other issue, maybe specific to my speakout account.

Here's another example I just tried. Facebook says text "fb" to 32665 to get an activation code for registering my phone to my Facebook account. I just tried to message that number, and sending failed. I don't really receive texts often, but I haven't received any lately. Do you suppose there's something wrong with my speakout account? I was able to send a text to my own number, but that's been the only text message I've sent or received in awhile.

Thanks for reading, everyone.

Edit: Seems I'm trying to send/receive from short codes, which are not supported. I assume that's why I cannot receive confirmation codes from Gmail, facebook, or epost. Not too impressed, but mostly because I didn't understand what was going on and wasted a lot of time trying to figure it out, This lack of functionality isn't that critical to me, though it would have been nice to have.

Hello,

I was wondering if I'm the only one to have trouble receiving text messages from specific companies. For example, I tried to sign up for text message alerts from my bank which uses epost notifications. They were supposed to send a text with some kind of confirmation information, but I received nothing after several attempts.

Another instance was with icoke.ca. They kept bugging me to register my mobile number, so when I finally attempted to, it said my mobile number was not supported. How come? Who knows?

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S Captivate (i897), locked to the Rogers network. Thanks in advance.
