Then call SO customer service, explain that you live in Kingston and ask them to give you a new phone number that's in a Kingston exchange. There should be no charge for this.

I don't have a 7-eleven in my city, and the nearest one is in Ottawa which is a different area code. So if I was to drive up to Ottawa and buy a phone from a store there, and bring it back to my city(Kingston), will I be able to use the phone in my area code, or will the phone be locked to an Ottawa area code number?
