I live just north of Toronto, there are no 7-elevens in my area. I got tired of phoning 7-eleven stores to find out if they had phones. I walked into a Petro Canada station and bought a Nokia 1112 for $59.95, it came with $5. of start up air time and a $20. air time voucher. It does last "just" 180 days, but at least I now have a phone. Also, it is very easy to get in touch with them. By the way, I was told that there are very few 1112s left. They also have the Nokia 2610 which costs $99. with $20 of air time.
Maybe this might be a deal for Montrealers.

Yeah, you're quite right about the free phone deal being a major difference between the two providers, too. I'm quite sure Petro-Can has never offered a free phone deal before. This seems to be a reoccurring deal with Speak Out.

thanks for this informative post.
I guess petrocanada doesn't sound too bad after all. not that I have much choice.

they are not offering any free phoen deals. which is a big difference too. any idea if they did in the past? or if/when they might again in future?

thanks again.

Petro-Can, like Speak Out, doesn't charge for voicemail retrievals from another phone.

AFAIK, Petro-Can's service and charges are identical with Speak Out's, with the notable exception of the topup denominations and expiry dates.

For Petro-Can, the denominations are $20, $50, & $75 that last for 180 days, plus a $100 topup that lasts for 1 year.

For Speak Out, of course, the denominations are $25, $50, $75 & $100 that last for 1 year.

You can read more about Petro-Can Mobility at their website or at Howard Forums.
