The voucher has an expiry date, your account balance has another expiry date. They are seperate and not related to each other in anyway.

...That is why I have suggested only purchase the voucher when you are close to the date of your account balance expiry date(but not last minute, may be a few days before).

OK thanks Chimp, got it now.

I believe the voucher expiry date is one year from purchase and after that the code becomes useless.

That is why I have suggested only purchase the voucher when you are close to the date of your account balance expiry date(but not last minute, may be a few days before).

Actually chimpanzee still is 'combining' the two issues.
He's suggesting waiting until the last minute before purchasing the voucher to maximize my usage time.

If I am not mistaken, I can actually purchase my voucher today, one month before my expiry date (1 year expiry) and wait until the 1 year expiry day before activating it. Is that correct?

Or am I wrong in my thinking? When you purchase your voucher, does the one year that you can get out of it start when you purchase it, or when you phone in to activate it?

TIA

yes. if you want to minimize average per month 'sitting' cost, wait just before the expiry then purchase voucher and refill. The only reason you want to buy a voucher way before that day is you have some promotion you want. Say you want to buy the voucher which would give you a free phone(and SIM). As that way, you can sell the phone/sim.

Dont' wait pass over the expiry day or everything would be wiped as far as I know.

Item 13 on your Home/FAQ page reports that vouchers must be activated within 90 days. It appears that this has been increased to 1 year. Vouchers refer you to the Speak Out Wireless Terms of Service on their website.

I am confused here as there are two separate issues going on.
One is the voucher itself, which must be activated in a certain time period.
The other is your account, which needs to be 'topped up' within a year since the last 'top up'.

Why are the two separate items being combined?
I don't understand.

For example, my current 'top up' expires in mid-July.
If I buy a voucher today (mid-June) and wait until mid-July,
won't that be smarter than activating it today?
That will give me one additional month of service, before I need to 'top up' again.

Am I correct in all of the above?
TIA

That is good news. Does anyone know of this applies to vouchers purchased before Nov 22 as well? I bought mine Nov 4.

You may want to write out the details of the vouchers (e.g. date of purchase, PIN, UPC) as I believe the ink on the voucher will fade within a year.
