I have been using Petro Mobility for a few years and would like to add data for internet access during my upcoming driving trip through the maritimes later this summer. I understand that I need to select the Change Plan Tab when logged into my online account, then select which plan with the Select Plan Tab. After completing this step how do I actually connect to the internet on my Samsung Galaxy A10E phone, are their specific settings that have to been entered on the phone to allow access to the internet when travelling. One last question is will my wife be able to use my phone data from her tablet while in the car with me. Thanks for any info on this.

Are there any prepaid phones unlocked that will accept the older type sims and still work via Petro Mobility. I checked at a few places and it seems that Nano and Micro sims are what they all take. Only need the phone for the odd call and very very limited texting maybe a couple per month. Thanks for any info.

Two years later and PetroCan offers a free phone with purchase of $100 airtime. A Huawei Ascend or an Alcatel whatever. Chased around town and none available while the retailer said PC was not delivering the phones they order. The deal ended August 31.
On September 1, PC introduced three new and more expensive phones with no deals on their website. Also introduced a new method for developing their monthly plan. Still around and still confusing the clientele.

My plan is to buy a different phone mainly one with larger dial pad for my failing eyes and use the same sim card in it. Can this be done, or are the newer phones using a different size sim. Any info would be appreciated, don't want internet or data just to make calls within Canada. Like driving so it's mainly to call relatives or CAA if needed. Thanks for any help.

I've probably visited at least 9 or 10 different PetroCanada stations in the GTA over the last 3 months and I'm noticing that with only two exceptions, they have done away with the PetroCanada prepaid displays in the store aisles and the only traces of it are a few car-chargers and earphone sets behind the cash register.

Of the two exceptions, only one location has the recent Alcatel phone on the display panel along eith a C3. The others still display 1661 & 2220. It seems that as old inventories are cleared out, the prepaid phone fixtures are removed and not replaced. Pamphlet jackets are empty.

Is this a sign that they are preparing to drop it? Or just part of really slow & clumsy re-branding process?

Thanks for the tip iamdrumming! I called back customer service and found out I had been misinformed the first time around. Petro-Canada does participate in the IMEI blacklist. To have your phone blacklisted, they need the following information:

name
mobile number
handset type
IMEI#
receipt with IMEI or picture/scan of package showing IMEI#

This information, along with a letter indicating you want to blacklist the phone, needs to be sent by fax to 519 846-9022.

I received an email today regarding this thread from a contact at SpeakOut. Here is a copy and paste of that email:

"Petro Canada Mobility and SpeakOut Wireless both participate in the IMEI Blacklist Program however there are specific guidelines that must be followed. A guest must fax a copy of their purchase receipt with proof of IMEI – for example, if you purchased a handset from Telus, Rogers, Fido, Bell etc and are currently using it on SpeakOut, you can contact us to blacklist the IMEI however you will need to provide a purchase receipt that has the IMEI listed on the receipt. In the case of Speakout and Petro Canada, the IMEI is not listed on the purchase receipt so we will need some form of confirmation that you are in fact the owner of the handset, a scanned photo of the original box clearly showing the IMEI or the QuickStart guide and activation code for the handset.

Guests with a lost or stolen handset should be directed to contact Customer Care – SpeakOut Wireless toll free is 1-866-310-1023 and Petro Canada Mobility Customer Care can be reached at 1-866-788-3475."

So, that's coming from Ztar Mobile themselves.

You can't blacklist a phone yourself. Only the carrier can add a phone's IMEI# to the CWTA blacklist (central list shared by participating carriers). The carrier knows your IMEI when you use your phone on their network. It's not proof of ownership per se, but they can see if you've been using the phone and how long you've been using it.

As to my other point, I'm assuming that since PetroMobile and SO are not participating in the CWTA blacklist, that they also do not block blacklisted phones. I may be wrong about this though.
